Floating Mosque

Masjid Tengku Tengah Zaharah, on the estuary of Ibai river, is built in such as way as to give the illusion that it is floating on water. It sees a setting of modern architecture against a stark natural landscape. Pristine white, plain and unadorned, the mosque is an unpretentious architectural statement, yet bold and strong at  the same time.

In the surrounding area, there is a children playground, Jogging site and fishing spot. Get your family here for a picnicking.. . Find it at Kuala Ibai, six km from the state capital. Located approximately just 600 meter from the Floating Mosque, is the site of Malaysian Handicraft Centre. It offers visitors a wide variety of Malaysian handicraft and also an insight into handicraft making. Some of the exquisite items which can be found here are songket, batik, vases and mats, hats, wallets and bags made from Pandanus leaves.

Visitor are also get a chance to witness first hand skills of local artisans in songket weaving, batik painting, basket weaving, etc. The famous Nasi Dagang is located at Chendering, so don't missed to try this local delicacy while you were here. The dishes is made by cooking plain rice and glutinous rice together. Coconut milk is then added. Nasi Dagang is eaten with its own specially made side dishes of tuna fish curry and a light pickled vegetable. Besides being considered as the centre for handicraft and traditional textiles in Terengganu, beautiful beach of Chendering is a must visit for picnicking, swimming, fishing, etc.
