An excellent network of roads provides easy access to any destination within the state. Terengganu is also linked to Singapore, Thailand and the rest of the peninsula by a system of tolled and un-tolled highways equipped with amenities such as rest areas, restaurants, souvenir shops and surau's (prayer rooms for Muslims). Singapore is five hours south while Thailand is just two hours north on the scenic East Coast Highway that passes through countless pretty fishing villages and by empty beaches. |

The recently completed East-West Expressway that links Kuala Lumpur with the East Coast now cuts the travel time from 4 hours to a comfortable 2.5 hours. From Kuantan city on the East Coast, it's less than an hour up the coast to reach Terengganu. By Air From Malaysia: Both the national carrier, Malaysia Airlines and the budget carrier, Air Asia, fly directly to Kuala Terengganu from Kuala Lumpur twice daily. Its only takes about 45 Min journey from KLIA. Berjaya Air operates flight from Subang Airport (Kuala Lumpur) to Redang Island (flight journey 1 hour). From Singapore: There is no direct flight to Kuala Terengganu from Singapore. Travelers must fly via KLIA. If flying via KLIA from Singapore too costly, consider flying from Senai Airport in Johor with Malaysia Airlines or Air Asia, This is cheaper option but takes much longer time due to land transfer from Singapore to Senai. Traveling time is about 2 hours. Air Asia will start a bus service soon from Singapore to Senai. Currently, the passengers will have to get to Senai airport by bus via Larkin to Senai. |

By Railway No railway available to reach Terengganu. If you are using train (Kelantan), you must take a taxi / bus / charter or rent a car to get here. Usually some are coming from Thailand or Singapore Train, they are visiting Perhentian Island that is a shortcut to Besut jetty. The journey from Kelantan to Besut Jetty takes only 45 min - 1 hour journey. But from Kuala Terengganu to Besut jetty, it will be 2 hour journey. |

Keretapi Tanah Melayu train (KTM) service is available from economy class to comfortable sleeping berth from Kuala Lumpur or Johor Bahru/ Singapore to Tanah Merah, Wakaf Bahru and Tumpat in Kelantan region. Passengers can stop at Tanah Merah station which is the nearest point to Kuala Besut jetty, about 45 minutes by taxi and 90 minutes to Merang jetty. |
