Surrounded by water on three sides Johor is a heaven for water sports and leisure such as windsurfing, boating, canoeing, kayaking and different forms of fishing including deep-sea fishing and game fishing. Fishing in rivers, estuaries, and coasts is both a sport and a leisure pursuit. To exploit this asset to its fullest, there are various levels of fishing competition. The annual state level fishing competition, GP Joran attracts many oversea participants and not to mention avid anglers from all over the country too. The state has a motor racing circuit in Pasir Gudang, the site for various international events. Johor is host to several international acclaimed sporting events that include the prestigious U.l.M. Formula 1 powerboat Championship. Pasir Gudang International Kite Festival, Mount Ledang Climbathon, 2nd Link Bridge Run and Desaru Triathlon. The locals and visitors enjoy bird watching, horseback riding, gokarting, biking, jungle trekking and other sports and leisure activities. |
