Kuala Lumpur : Putrajaya Fascinating Stopover
Apart from effectively connecting areas within the Putrajaya city, the eight unique and distinctive signature bridges have been designed to exude aesthetic appeal reflecting local culture. Currently, five of the bridges have been completed.
PUTRA BRIDGE Deemed the most important of the bridges in Putrajaya, the 435-metre concrete bridge connects the Government Precinct to the Mixed Development Precinct, with the upper level of the bridge forming part of the Boulevard.
The two- tier bridge is inspired by the Islamic architecture of the famous Khaju Bridge in Isfahan, Iran. Its magnificent attractions are the four minaret-type piers complete with observation decks overlooking the Putrajaya Lake. This unique bridge provides access to pedestrians, vehicles and a monorail while its piers will be developed into fine dining restaurants with a place for boats to berth.
SERI PERDANA BRIDGE Inspired by Moorish Islamic architecture and part of the protocol route, the 370-metre long bridge is built across the lake and is currently the most used bridge. The concrete bridge has eight rest areas, with minarets of different styles, for visitors to enjoy the panoramic view of the lake, the Perdana Putra Complex as well as the Putra Mosque. There are two separate carriageways over a two- twin cell box girder. The foot path is flanked by railings and the road median is lined by decorative street lights.
SERI BAKTI BRIDGE The design of this concrete bridge is influenced by Islamic architecture featuring a minaret-type pavilion structure with an observation deck constructed on each pier. Bougainvilleas are planted at each minaret to add a splash of colour to this 270-metre long bridge. Its central median is also lined with duranta gold and canna generalis plants.
SERI GEMILANG BRIDGE A landmark bridge in Putrajaya, this 240 m steel bridge is categorized as a ceremonial bridge and serves as the main entrance to the core island. Distinctly designed towers can be seen at the bridge while specially designed street lights line the bridge.
SERI WAWASAN BRIDGE Another landmark bridge in the city, the aesthetic appeal of the Seri Wawasan is enhanced with decorative street lights and steps with modern design built at both sides of the lower level of the bridge. The concrete bridge is a combination of
cable backstays and structural steel tie back.
