Those who have a yearn for nature and adventure will have an enjoyable experience appreciating the natural beauty of the 12 parks
within the Putrajaya city.
The largest manmade freshwater wetland in the tropics and the first of its kind in Malaysia, Taman Wetland comprises Wetland Park (138 hectares) and the wetland areas (197 hectares). There are 24 wetland cells in Taman Wetland and the main habitats are marshes, swamp forests and open water areas like ponds and lakes. Several species of local marshland and water birds spotted here include the little egret, little green heron and cinnamon bittern.
Visitors can start by exploring the Wetland Park, which serves as the gateway to the wetlands area. It houses a Nature Interpretation Centre (NIC); an 80-metre high lookout tower, which offers a birds eye view of Putrajaya; two nature trails; a wetland plant nursery; a flamingo pond; picnic areas and other public amenities.
Visitors can obtain information on the wetland plant bed filtration system, conservation of wetland habitats and the uses of wetland products at the park.

Taman Botani offers a quiet place for contemplation and introspection. The biggest botanical garden in Malaysia, it covers an area of over 92 hectares and contains more trees and plants than commonly seen in other tropical botanical gardens. The park is divided into three sections - flowers, ornamental plants and preservation/research - and houses some 700 species of local plants as well as those from the African and Asia-Pacific regions.
Taman Botani has been designed as an arcadia or a national sanctuary housing a collection of Malaysian plants as well as a centre for education and research. Tourists can visit the Visitors Interpretative Centre (VIC), the explorer’s trail, palm hill, sun and floral gardens as well as a gift shop that offers green themed memorabilia.

Among the many attractions and facilities provided in the park are the Visitors Complex, an orchard, a Herbs and Spices Track. Rubber, Clonal Plot and Viewing Deck. Visitors can observe agriculture- related activities such as latex collection and its coagulation before being rolled into rubber sheets; crops maintenance; fruit preservation and many others.
Visitors are also able to see, touch smell and learn about more than 170 crops in the park; sample some of the different type of fruits, fresh from the orchard and experience many exciting events all year round.

Sitting in the heart of Putrajaya is Putrajaya Lake. Visitors can take a leisurely cruise on the lake to see and marvel at the city’s many stunning landmarks and views.
Visitors can choose from two different modes of transportation when cruising Putrajaya Lake - by passenger cruise boat or the gondola-like vessels designed in the style of traditional Malay perahu.
The air-conditioned cruise boat seats 76 persons comfortably and allows passengers spectacular vistas of Putrajaya with its wraparound glass windows. The open-air perahu’s come in two unique designs - payang and kolek, and in 4-seater and 6-seater capacity, each operated by a single boatman.
