Located about half an hour from the town of Chukai, Kemaman, Yak Yah river is home to one of the biggest firefly colonies in Malaysia.  As dusk falls, flashing fireflies can be found throughout the 13 km long river, with the best sights at spots around 5 km from the jetty.  Some trees along the river bank may harbour over a thousand fireflies.
