The state of Terengganu is currently making a strong bid to attract more local and foreign travelers to the state.  Aimed especially at promoting Visit Malaysia Year 2007 and the upcoming Visit Terengganu Year 2008, the state government is embarking on several strategic programmes state wide.

First in place to create and increase overall awareness is the Terengganu Masters 2006 which is scheduled at Tuanku Mizan GCC in Kuala Terengganu from June 27 – July 1.

Speaking at the recent launch of the Terengganu Masters at Kuala Lumpur GCC, Y.B. Dato’ Hj Mohamed Bin Awang Tera, chairman of the industrial & tourism Development said that organizing these programmes are simply part of the state government’s initiative to promote tourism in the state of Terengganu.  “The inaugural Terengganu Masters is just part of our initial efforts to create awareness and help boost tourist arrivals in our state”, he said.  “And to date we have already seen a 25% increase in arrivals over the last five months, while we are expecting 2.5 million travellers to Terengganu in 2007”.

This is indeed a welcome sign for the east coast state’s efforts in attracting tourists to its shores.  Altogether with the other programmes that are well in place Terengganu is set, see more and more tourists arrivals.
